Our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross to redeem us from the bondage of sin, and died to destroy the scourge of death. He was buried in a new tomb, but in Spirit He went into hades and preached salvation to Adam and his children. His divinity was in absolute unison with His body in the grave and with His soul in Hades. That is why a grave could not hold him captive. Hades could not hold captive the souls Christ redeemed on the Cross either. David spoke of this mystery saying, “You will not leave My soul in hell, neither will You suffer Your Holy One to see corruption” /Ps. 16:10/. And St. Peter the apostle wrote, “For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit, by which He also went and preached unto the spirits in prison.” /1 Pet. 3:18-19/   >>>

የጌታችን ትንሳኤ በአበው ዘንድ በምሳሌ የተመሰለ፣ በነቢያት በትንቢትና በምልክት የተነገረ፣ በተስፋ የተጠበቀ የድኅነታችን ታላቅ በር ነው፡፡ የጌታችንን የወንጌል ምሥራች የሰበኩ ሐዋርያትም የጌታን ትንሳኤ በደስታና በጽናት መስበካቸው ትንሳኤው በኃጢአትና በሞት ላይ የተደረገ ታላቅ ድልና የድኅነት የምሥራች በመሆኑ ነው፡፡ ስለዚህም የትንሳኤው ምስክሮች ሆነዋል፡፡ /የሐ.ሥራ 2፡32/ ጌታ የተነሳበት ሰንበተ ክርስቲያንም የበዓላት በኩር፣ የዘላለም ሕይወት ቀብድ፣ ዘላለማዊት መባሏ የጌታ ትንሳኤ የምዕመናን የዘላለም ሕይወት ትንሳኤ በኩር በመሆኑ ነው፡፡ /1ኛቆሮ. 15፡20/

“You who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you.” /Deut.  4:4/

Fasting in the Orthodox Church is abstaining from meat and all dairy products for a certain specified period, and for certain hours during a day.
There are seven fasting periods during the year. One of these fasting periods is known as the Great Lent.

ከብፁዕ አቡነ ሙሳ
(የግብፅ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ  ቤተ ክርስቲያን የወጣቶች ጉዳይ ጳጳስ)

ኦርቶዶክስ የሚለው ቃል የግሪክ ሲሆን “ኦርቶ”  ማለት የቀና የተስተካከለ ርቱዕ ማለት ሲሆን፤ “ዶክስ” ማለት ደግሞ ሃይማኖት ማለት ነው። ኦርቶዶክስ ማለትም የቀና  የተስተካከለ ርቱዕ የሆነ ሃይማኖት ማለት ነው።

የኢትዮጵያ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ሰው ከቅድስት ሥላሴ ረቂቅ ልደት ሊወለድ የቻለበትን፣ ወደ ክርስቶስ ቤተሰብነትና የክርስቲያን ማኅበር አንድነት ብሎም ወደ ዘላለም ሕይወት የሚተላለፍበትን በዓለ ጥምቀትን በየዓመቱ ጥር 11 ቀን የመታሰቢያ  በዓል አድርጋ ታከብረዋለች። ቤተ ክርስቲያናችን በሥዕላዊ መልክ ከምታከብራቸው በርካታ በዓላት መካከል በዓለ ጥምቀት አንዱ ነው። ሥዕላዊ መልክ ማለት በዓሉን በማስመልከት መዝሙር መዘመር፣ ምስጋና ማቅረብ፣ በበዓሉ ዕለት የተፈጸመውን ድርጊት በኅሊና ማሰብ ብቻ አይደለም። የበዓሉን ጥንታዊ ድርጊት በሚታይ ነገርና ሁኔታ መግለጥ ማለት ነው። ይህም የረቀቀውን አጉልቶ፣ የራቀውን አቅርቦ ለማሳየት ነው። የጥንተ ክርስትናውን መሠረት ሳትለቅ ከቀደምት አበው በተላለፈው እምነትና ሥርዓት የምትጓዘው ጥንታዊት፣ ብሔራዊትና ሐዋርያዊት ቤተ ክርስቲያናችን ስለ ጥምቀት በዓል አከባበር የራሷ ትውፊት አላት። የብሉያትና ሐዲሳት መጻሕፍት በአንድ የመጽሐፍ ቅዱስ ጥራዝ እንደሚገኙ ሁሉ ሥርዓቱንም በዓሉንም አስተባብራ ይዛ የምትገኘው የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ብቻ ናት።
